Record a selected screen, window or tab

Capture a demonstration in a compatible desktop browser and save the recording locally. Choose the surface in the browser's sharing dialog; microphone narration is a separate option.

How to use it

  1. Close unrelated content and enable the microphone option if you want narration. Start recording, then choose only the tab, window or screen you intend to show.
  2. If the browser offers shared audio, enable it when needed. Check any no-audio or microphone-permission message and make a short test recording.
  3. Pause or stop as needed, replay the video to check its picture and sound, then download it before leaving the page.

What to expect
A video of the selected tab. It contains tab audio only if the browser supplies an audio track and sharing is enabled; otherwise the recording is silent.

Before you start

  • This screen recorder is unavailable on mobile browsers. Capturable surfaces, system or tab audio, and output formats vary by browser and operating system; microphone permission does not enable system audio.
  • Automatic stopping is triggered at 2 hours of active recording or the 256 MiB buffered-data threshold. Recordings are kept in browser memory until saved, so save short takes and avoid exposing private notifications or other windows.
