Keep an audio excerpt or remove a passage

Select a start and end time to keep a useful excerpt or remove an unwanted passage. Optional fades soften the beginning and end of a kept excerpt.

How to use it

  1. Choose an audio file and check its duration. Set the selection with the sliders or enter times such as 00:10 and 00:40.
  2. Choose whether to keep or remove the selection. Fades apply in keep mode; the ringtone preset keeps up to the first 30 seconds and adds a short fade-out.
  3. Run the cut, download the result and listen around both edit points.

Example

Starting point
Keep 00:10–00:40 of a one-minute recording without fades.
What to expect
An excerpt of about 30 seconds. Removing the same passage instead joins the first 10 seconds to the last 20 seconds; encoded timing can vary slightly.

Before you start

  • The end must follow the start and stay within the file. Remove mode requires some audio after the selection; use keep mode to discard a trailing section.
  • The result is re-encoded, so this is not a lossless edit. Codec support and browser memory may prevent processing even when a filename or file size is accepted. Keep the original until the downloaded result has been checked.
