Read a Swiss tournament and top-cut estimate

Choose the game and event format before interpreting rounds or qualification. Generic Swiss lets you enter a planning structure yourself. Recorded results can produce a current standing estimate; final top-cut chances require every modeled Swiss round and a known qualification rule.

How to use it

  1. Select the game and format, enter the player count and choose a territory if requested. For editable formats, enter the rounds and cut size from your event document.
  2. Review the displayed draw or double-loss assumptions. Record played rounds in order, using a bye only when one was actually awarded.
  3. Calculate the current standing from a partial record, or the final estimate from a complete record. Changing inputs clears the old estimate; calculate again before comparing.

Example

Starting point
Generic Swiss: 128 players, 7 rounds, Top 8. For a practice scenario, enter five wins followed by two losses.
What to expect
All seven rounds are filled, giving a 5–2 record and 15 match points in this preset. The Top 8 probability depends on the model assumptions; identical inputs in the current tool version return the same estimate.

Before you start

  • With only part of the round history entered, future rounds are not simulated and no final qualification probability is shown. Event-specific or unverified rules can also withhold qualification estimates.
  • The model does not reproduce actual pairing software, player skill, strategic drops or all tiebreak procedures. A displayed 0% or 100% is not a real-event guarantee.
  • Presets are unofficial planning aids. Check the event's current rules; do not infer support for a game, territory or format merely because a similar preset exists.
