Calculate a weighted grade and a final-exam target
Enter each assessment as a percentage score and its share of the course grade. The calculator averages the work entered so far; when its weights total less than 100%, it can also find the score needed on the remaining assessment.
How to use it
- Fill in both the score and weight for each assessment. Add or remove rows to match your course.
- Check the total weight alongside the average. An average based on 60% of the course does not mean that the remaining 40% has already been graded.
- Open the final-score section and enter your target percentage. The final assessment's weight is the unused part of 100%, calculated automatically.
Example
- Starting point
- Two scores: 80% with a 30% weight and 90% with a 30% weight. Target overall grade: 88%.
- What to expect
- The completed-work average is 85%, with 60% total weight. The remaining assessment weighs 40%; you need 92.50% on it to reach 88%.
Before you start
- Scores and individual weights range from 0 to 100; total weight cannot exceed 100%. A partially filled row needs both values, and at least one weight must be positive.
- A required score above 100% is unattainable within this scale. A result at or below 0% means the entered work already reaches the target under this model.
- Use your course's actual weights. Dropped assessments, bonus marks, grade boundaries and institutional rounding rules are not applied automatically.
