Convert PDF pages to shades of gray
Make a grayscale copy when colour is unnecessary. Each PDF page is rendered as an image at the selected resolution and placed in a new PDF.
How to use it
- Choose one PDF and select 72, 150 or 300 DPI; the initial setting is 150 DPI.
- Run the conversion, then download the grayscale PDF.
- Zoom in on small text and compare charts with the original to check that important distinctions remain visible.
Example
- Starting point
- A two-page colour handout converted at 150 DPI.
- What to expect
- A two-page PDF containing grayscale page images. This describes the output structure; its size and legibility must be checked on the actual file.
Before you start
- The input limit is 100 MiB; page count and decoded image size also depend on the device's processing budget.
- The new pages are images: selectable text and vector shapes are not preserved as such. Higher DPI uses more memory and may create a larger file. Gray is not the same as two-colour black and white.
