Compress images in your browser

Choose a quality level or a target size. Dimensions stay unchanged, animated files are refused, and processing remains on this device.

No file bytes are sent to Lutrakit.

Compress an image and verify the actual result

Re-encode still JPEG, PNG or WebP images as JPEG or WebP. Choose a quality level or an approximate target size while keeping the decoded image dimensions.

How to use it

  1. Select your images and choose JPEG or WebP output. The initial setting is WebP at 82% quality.
  2. Adjust quality or switch to target-size mode. A size target guides the search; it is not a guaranteed file-size ceiling.
  3. Process the images, compare the reported sizes and download the results. Inspect fine text, edges and transparency before replacing the originals.

Example

Starting point
photo.png exported as WebP with a target of 500 KiB.
What to expect
photo_compressed.webp, with its measured size and an indication of whether the target was reached. The final size depends on the image and browser.

Before you start

  • Each input is limited to 50 MiB; decoded pixel and batch limits also depend on the device. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected.
  • There is no resizing control. JPEG replaces transparency with white, and the original metadata is not preserved by this pixel re-encoding. The output may be larger or less sharp than the original.
