Check a Unix timestamp's unit and time zone
A Unix timestamp counts time from 1970-01-01 at 00:00 UTC. This converter accepts integer seconds, milliseconds, microseconds and nanoseconds, and shows UTC alongside your browser's local time.
How to use it
- Paste the number, choose its known unit or keep automatic detection, then convert. Check the detected unit rather than relying on the number's length alone.
- For the reverse conversion, enter a date with an explicit zone, such as 2024-01-01T00:00:00Z, and convert it to numeric values.
- For multiple values, switch to batch mode and put one timestamp on each line. Each line uses automatic unit detection.
Example
- Starting point
- 1704067200 with the seconds unit selected.
- What to expect
- 2024-01-01T00:00:00.000Z in UTC, equivalent to 1704067200000 milliseconds. The local display depends on your time zone.
Before you start
- Supported dates run from 1970 through 2100. Single timestamp input is limited to 128 characters; a batch to 1,000 non-empty lines and 65,536 UTF-8 bytes.
- The date display has millisecond precision even when the exact nanosecond value is retained. Automatic unit detection is a heuristic; dates without a zone can be interpreted using the browser's local zone.
